Marriage Ministry
Marriages are important at Grace Community Church because marriage is God’s idea. He saw that it was not good for man to be alone so God created a helper suitable for him. He performed the first marriage ceremony in Genesis when He brought Eve to Adam. God then instructed Adam to leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and become one flesh. They were instructed to leave and cleave. That word cleave means to join together in such a way that the point of welding is stronger that the individual parts. The weld is permanent. God gives us many instructions for marriage in His written Word. We are pleased to offer two different ways to study what God says about marriage in the Bible.
*A Biblical Portrait of Marriage, by Dr. Bruce Wilkinson is a 12 week study that covers 10 different areas in marriage: leaving, cleaving, role of the wife, role of the husband, in-laws, money, sex, romance, communication, and loyalty. Bruce Wilkinson presents that material through a video presentation which is followed by a small group discussion. Weekly homework will be discussed before moving to the new subject matter each week. Preparation time is approximately 15-20 min. for five days each week. Cost $30 a couple.
*Love and Respect, by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs is a 10 week study that will help crack the communication code in marriage. Emerson Eggerichs presents the material through a video presentation, teaching about the love she most desires and the respect he desperately needs. Participants will learn how to stop the “crazy cycle” of conflict as they discuss the principles in small group and apply the teaching each week. Preparation time will vary depending on the application that is chosen each week. Cost $30 a couple.
